Boats at Leenan Bay:
Boats at Leenan Bay
Fishing boats moored at Leenan Pier, Inishowen, Co Donegal — this watercolour captures the quiet strength and beauty of life by the sea. I find seawater hypnotic, and in this piece, the pigments blended with a kind of magic that only happens when everything aligns just right. These small but mighty vessels are built to endure the wild Atlantic, and I’m always moved by the courage of the fishermen who venture out in them, powered only by a single outboard engine.
Limited Edition Print available in three sizes.
Note: Sizes refer to the overall mounted print dimensions, not the image size. If you have any questions, I’d be happy to help.
The Rocky Shore, Roxtown: The rugged cliffs of Dunaff Head add balance to the beauty of Roxtown, Clonmany.
I walk this stony beach most days and never get tired of its beauty. Not all beaches in Donegal are golden strands, some like this one are made of wonderfully round rocks in a variety of colours. This strand has the bonus of rock pools a great place to entertain small children.

The White Washed Cottage:
A wee cottage on the side of the road that leads up or down Mamore Gap, in Donegal.

The Laneway, Buncrana, Co Donegal. The small provincial towns all seem to have a main street, most towns have laneways leading back up to the main street. This painting is my impression of a Donegal Laneway. Rusty old rails and buildings not quite as resplendent as they once were. You can just imagine walking up here with purpose, drawn forward by the promise of what lies ahead.
These old narrow paths offer a striking contrast to modern purpose built spaces, inviting us to slow down and reflect,

Forgotten
At the rear of the house, an old bicycle stands quietly among the weeds—its once gleaming wheels now kissed by rust and time. Nature has gently claimed it, as wildflowers spill around its frame, the only companions in its stillness. This watercolour captures the quiet poetry of abandonment, where fading paint meets blooming life.
Limited Edition Print available in various sizes.

Before the Rush: Lough Swilly with Northern Lights Hue
This atmospheric watercolour Before the Rush, captures the quiet majesty of Lough Swilly, bathed in the ethereal glow of recent Northern Lights activity. Soft washes of blue and violet infuse the sky and water with a dreamlike quality, while a weathered pier and moored boat offer a gentle focal point. The painting evokes stillness and wonder, blending natural serenity with a touch of celestial magic.

Malin Town Phone Box : The cream and green paint begged to be captured, These phone boxes were once an important part of the rural community. In fact, they were our only means of telephone communication. Now replaced by mobile phones, they are rapidly disappearing from the Irish countryside.

Gateway to Inishowen; A gentle invitation into the heart of Donegal, this watercolour captures the serene beauty of Buncrana Pier stretching into the calm waters of Lough Swilly. Soft clouds drift above a quiet shoreline, where a lone figure strolls along the sand, dwarfed by the vastness of sea and sky. Nestled among rolling green hills, the town of Buncrana welcomes visitors with its timeless coastal charm-this is the view that greets every soul entering Inishowen, a moment of peace before the journey unfolds.

The Old Farmhouse: A Donegal cottage, built on the side of a hill. I was attracted by the old roof and the whitewashed walls, a touch of rust and age. Just a typical old Irish home beside the Mamore Hills, Donegal, Ireland.

From my Original Watercolour painting Inishowen Drive, this is my depiction of Autumn in County Donegal, Ireland. Irish country roads have wonderful winter sunlight shining on the russet colours. Every season has it's beauty, autumn is my favourite. Inishowen cottages like this are an integral part of the landscape. I loved using this palette of colour.

Country Road, Donegal.
There is something charming about the little clusters of houses you find in County Donegal. There is a romance to the old red tin roof and hedges beside old stone walls. This road is on the Isle of Doagh, in Inishowen and I felt the need to capture this country view.
Where the Road Ends
We all love that place where the road ends and we are home.
A wee byre or cowshed close to the cottage, a sight that many will remember. Donegal has many such timeless wee outbuildings; no longer the cowshed, replaced by modern barns.
I love painting landscapes with old interesting buildings.
Tullagh Bay.
This watercolour is of Tullagh Bay in Inishowen on the Wild Atlantic Way.
Also known as home to Beach Dog.
Whenever you arrive the local beach dog will greet you with a stick or favourite sea treasure ( plastic bottle) to throw for him.
You think you have a buddy for life... but the minute someone else arrives he is away to check them out.
Tullagh Bay, Clonmany is beautiful and well worth the visit.
This print could be a perfect momento.
The Castle and Glashedy Island, Isle of Doagh, Co Donegal. This Inishowen landscape shows the road that leads to the Castle on the Isle of Doagh. One of the many Donegal gems on the Wild Atlantic Way.
You always get a lovely light even on the coldest day in Donegal. This is a great spot to watch the wild Atlantic waves crash to land. There is a blow hole just behind the castle, where spray shoots up into the air creating rainbows on three quarter to full tide.
A little piece of Donegal for your wall.

Lazy days: These two little boats relax in a little bay off the coast of Inishowen, Co. Donegal. Often the simply sights catch my eye and make me stop and paint.
I imagine these boats give hours of pleasure to their owners, nothing like bobbing out in the quiet waters waiting for a big fish to bite.

The Peace bridge, Derry. The Peace bridge was built as a symbol of the growing peace in Derry. Linking two sides of the city, nowadays most tourists walk across the Peace Bridge and enjoy the panoramic views up and down the river Foyle. The wonderful reflections in Lough Foyle often cause most to stay a while and watch the river capture the Guildhall and the city lights in the water.

The View Overlooking Leenan. Co Donegal.
This limited edition print is taken from my original watercolour painting.
This scene is the view from the road at the base of the Urris Hills overlooking Leenan Bay.
A lovely part of Urris on the Wild Atlantic Way.
This would bring a bit of Donegal into your home.
Stormy Seas at Leenan Head
Donegal seascape in watercolour, as the storm passes, you often spot that glimmer of blue skies promising calmer weather. The vibrancy of Watercolour was used to catch the power of the waves.
The bay is wide open to the west, exposing it to the prevailing westerly winds and to the swell which sometimes crashes into Leenan Head cliffs.
I think I have a love affair with this spot, I can be found here staring at the wave patterns most evenings. After a storm I get to enjoy wading through the sea foam left behind.
The Wild Atlantic way is well named around the Inishowen coast.
This watercolour captures those small twisty coastal roads that lead you to water, perhaps a strand or small pier. Inishowen in County Donegal has many lovely wee roads just like this. The Wild Atlantic Way drive is all the more interesting because of them.
An Urris cottage, slightly worse for wear. I painted this cottage in watercolour. This home is in the lovely Leenan area of Urris. A blue boat is parked under the evergreen tree which with other vegetation is threatening to cover it totally. Once a hive of activity this Donegal Cottage looks like it doesn’t see many visitors anymore.
A little piece of Donegal.

Moville Pier is situated in the lovely coastal town of Moville, in County Donegal. This town has a long maritime history, the locals call this the old pier.
I am captivated by the shape and sense of adventure that boats present. During a hot afternoon, when everyone had gone for lunch, I got a chance to capture this peaceful, beautiful scene. I brought my sketches home and worked it up in watercolour in my studio.

"Summer Blossoms" I love the beauty of flowers and the way nature uplifts our spirits. Watercolour captures the softness of flower petals in gentle tones. I am always captivated by the play of light bouncing off the flower petals. Would this make a great timeless present for someone you love?
Mamore Gap. This landscape painting is of Mamore Gap in Urris, County Donegal.
Near the summit of Mamore Gap a number of holy relics can be found – a holy well devoted to St Eigne and a small altar of statues are the centre point of an annual mass held here every August 15th in commemoration of Penal times when people had to practice their religion in secret to be protected from persecution.
The spectacular view as you descend makes your heart quicken. The landscape rolls down to the Atlantic, this area of Urris is locally known as “God’s Country”.

A solitary tractor rests in a Donegal yard, its silhouette etched against the old sheds.
This print is a quiet ode to rural resilience — the poetry of toil, the romance of rust. It speaks of hands that shape the land, of seasons that pass like stories told in furrows and harvests.
Let this piece bring the soul of the countryside into your space — grounded, nostalgic, and enduring.

St Mary’s Chapel, Lagg
Nestled on Ireland’s most northerly coast in Malin, Co Donegal, St Mary’s Chapel has watched over the land since 1784. It was the rhythm of the undulating hills that moved me—their quiet grace stirred an emotional response I couldn’t ignore. In watercolour, I aimed to capture that softness: the way the light rests gently on each fold of the landscape, how the chapel seems to exhale serenity amid the wild beauty of Donegal.

The View from Mamore Gap Walk. Mamore Gap looks over the land of Urris, if you venture on the walk beside Leenan Beach and follow it up the hill, you will eventually come to two lakes. This limited Edition Print Landscape is Fanad Lighthouse, standing on a peninsula that lies between Lough Swilly and Mulroy Bay on the north coast of County Donegal, Ireland.
Lighthouses appeal to me, maybe it is because they are guardians, showing sailors the safer way to land. Or maybe it is their isolated perches on outcrops of rock.
I am drawn to them and this one I can see from the top of my drive across the mouth of Lough Swilly. It is on The Wild Atlantic Way

Painted in watercolour, this scene is of my local Donegal Cliffs. The Atlantic waves are slamming in after a storm at sea. I am always hypnotised by the waters movement and the areas of dark and light. The Atlantic gives much viewing joy, I find that no two evenings ever offer the same view.
